Ivan E. Desroches, Architect

In 1990, Ivan enrolled at Canadore College where he earned two technician diplomas: one in Architectural Drafting and the other in Civil Engineering.  After graduation, Ivan started his career working for a design build contractor where he was responsible to design, estimate and build projects. 

Later Ivan worked as a project captain for WSP, a multidisciplinary firm in Timmins, when he chose to enrol in the RAIC Syllabus Program.  In 2000, Ivan moved to Ottawa to advance his studies but also worked where he held various positions such as senior architectural technologist, team lead, intern architect and technical director.  Ivan obtained foundational experience working for key firms in Ottawa like Dredge Leahy Architects Inc., J. L. Richards & Associates, Edward J Cuhaci and Associates Architects Inc and Perkins + Will Canada.  In 2014, Ivan earned a Royal Architectural Institute of Canada professional diploma in architecture (with Distinction) and a year after was a licenced Architect in the province of Ontario. 

After gaining 21 years of experience in the private industry, Ivan made the choice to move over to the public sector and take a position as an architectural advisor for the Real Property Directorate at the House of Commons of Canada.  In this role Ivan is recognized as a subject matter expert who represent the crown institution on matters such as master plans, major crown projects, recapitalization projects and capital projects.

In 2022, Ivan founded his architectural practice as a sole practitioner where he remains director, president, and design principal for the firm to this day. Ivan brings a unique perspective to projects, having worked on construction site firsthand, he entered the profession as an architectural technologist and later became a licensed Architect. This brings a strong understanding for design sensibility firmly grounded in construction reality. Of Métis descendant, he is fully bilingual in French and English. Ivan is passional at providing outstanding service to clients and is looks forward to growing his team in the future.
